Trojan Boys Finish Fifth at State A Tournament

The West Central Trojan boys finished their 2024-2025 season with a win and a fifth-place finish at the 2025 South Dakota State A Boys Basketball Tournament in Sioux Falls on Saturday, March 22nd.  The Trojans defeated the Hill City Rangers 69-54.

West Central’s defense held Hill City to just three points total in the first quarter while taking a 17-3 lead, setting the tone for the game.  Hill City found some rhythm offensively, but West Central maintained their lead.  They held a 27-17 advantage at halftime.

The Trojans were able to extend their lead with a big third quarter.  West Central outscored Hill City 19-11 to take a 46-28 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Rangers tried to make a late push, getting within 10 points, 56-46, with just under 3:00 to play.  The Trojans, however, shut down the rally and took the win.

West Central shot 45.1% (23-51) from the field overall, 43.5% (10-23) from three-point area, and 72.2% (13-18) from the free-throw line.  Hill City finished the game shooting 30.2% (16-53) from the field overall, 34.6% (9-26) on three-point attempts, and 86.7% (13-15) from the free-throw line.

Connor Mebius had 23 points five rebounds, and three assists.  Will Kuhl finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Carter Cross added seven points.  Kolte Garry had six points, eight rebounds five assists, and three blocked shots.  Luke Knight also had six points with six rebounds and three assists.

The Trojans finished the season with an overall record or 21-4.
