The West Central Trojan girls basketball team suffered their first loss of the season in Vermillion on Tuesday, December 17th. The Tanagers took the lead in the first quarter and took the win 69-55.
Vermillion grabbed a four-point lead, 21-17, by the end of the first quarter. They then held West Central to just seven points in the second quarter while extended the lead to 41-24 by halftime. Both offenses were rolling in the third quarter, each scoring 20 points. The Tanagers led 61-44 going into the fourth quarter. West Central did outscore Vermillion 11-8 in the final quarter.
Kacey Jaton finished with 20 points and four rebounds. Abbi Thornton added 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Ellie Knight had five points, 11 rebounds, and two assists. Ayla Kramer also ended with five points.
