Trojan Girls Basketball Season Starts with Home Win

The West Central Trojan girls basketball season started with a home win over the Baltic Bulldogs on Tuesday, December 10th.  The Trojans built a big first half lead on their way to a 55-40 victory.  The defense was the highlight of the night as they forced 38 Bulldog turnovers, 29 of those coming on steals.

Baltic started the game with a quick 5-2 run, but West Central finished the first quarter on a 19-2 scoring advantage for a 21-7 lead.  The Trojans extended the lead to 45-12 going into halftime.  West Central was able to cruise through the second half.  They held a 50-28 lead going into the final quarter.

The Trojans finished the game shooting 35% (21-60) overall, 32% (7-22) on three-point attempts, and 46% (6-13) from the free-throw line.  Baltic shot 44% (12-27) overall, 50% (5-10) on three-point shots, and 73% (11-15) from the free-throw line.

Ellie Knight finished with 16 points, nine steals, four assists, and three rebounds.  Kacey Jaton also had 16 points along with three steals, three assists, and three rebounds.  Ayla Kramer had seven points and three assists.  Kaylie Schultz finished with six points.  Abbi Thornton added five points and three steals.
