Trojan Volleyball Plays Strong Against Chester

The West Central Trojans hosted the #1 team in Class B volleyball, the Chester Flyers, on Tuesday, October 15th.  The Flyers won the match in four sets by scores of 29-27, 22-25, 25-20, and 25-16.

The Trojans were on fire to start the match.  They started with a 7-3 lead.  After the Flyers cut the lead to 8-6, West Central went on a 4-0 run to extend the lead to 12-6.  Chester cut the lead to 15-14 and then went ahead 17-16.  After an 18-18 tie, the Trojans went back in front 21-19.  They were one point away from winning the first set, 24-22, but Chester tied the score 24-24.  The teams traded points to a 27-27 tie.  The Flyers then scored the final two points for a 29-27 win.

Chester started the second set with a 4-2 lead.  West Central went on a 6-2 run to take the lead 8-6.  After the Flyers took a slim 11-10 lead, the Trojans regain the lead 15-14.  They then went on a 3-0 run for an 18-14 lead.  Chester tied the score 19-19, but West Central took a 22-21 lead and then won 25-22.

West Central carried the momentum into the third set.  They started on a 4-1 run and continued to lead 8-4.  The Trojans were still in front 11-8, but Chester cut the lead 14-13.  The score was tied 17-17 and 18-18.  The Flyers went on a 5-1 run for a 23-19 lead before winning 25-20.  The Flyers opened the fourth set with a 5-0 run.  That spurt kept them in front the entire set.  They extended the lead to 14-8 and then 19-10.  The Flyers finished the match with a 25-16 win.

Sophia Gross had 11 kills, three blocks, and two digs.  Ella Harden added 10 kills.  Madi Ingalls finished with six kills, eight digs, and four ace serves.  Dawson Garry added five kills and three digs.  Cambree Ideker ended with 31 set assists and 13 digs.  Landry Heath had 10 digs, and Avery Nothduft had eight digs.
