West Central Picks up Road Match Win over Cougars

The West Central Trojan volleyball team ended a four-match losing streak with a four-set win over the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars on Thursday, October 10th.  The Trojans won by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 17-25, and 25-16.

West Central went on some timely runs in the first two sets.  After leading 11-9 in the opening set, the Trojans scored three in a row to extend the lead to 14-9.  They kept that five-point lead at 20-15 before ending the first set on a 5-1 run for a 25-16 win.  The Trojans held an 11-9 lead again in the second set, and then went on another run.  They pushed the lead to 15-10 and then 21-12 before a 4-1 run to end in a 25-13 win.

The Cougars started the third set with a 4-1 run and continued to lead early at 7-3.  West Central got within a point, 7-6, but McCook Central/Montrose extended the lead to 12-8.  They then turned a 16-13 lead into a 21-14 lead.  The Cougars ended the third set with a 25-17 win.  The fourth set started with a 3-3 tie.  The Cougars then went in front 8-6, but West Central responded and took a 9-8 lead.  The two teams traded leads again, but the Trojans found themselves in front 13-11.  They would go in an 8-3 run to extend the lead to 21-14 before winning the match 25-16.

Madi Ingalls finished with 13 kills and 10 digs.  Dawson Garry had 10 kills, four digs, and three ace serves.  Ella Harden finished with nine kills.  Addison Bartmann and Sophia Gross both had five kills each.  Cambree Ideker added 25 set assists, 16 digs, four ace serves, and three blocks.  Avery Nothdurft had nine digs and three ace serves.
