The West Central Trojans softball team had their season end with a runner-up finish at the State A Tournament in Aberdeen held Thursday, May 30th through Saturday, June 1st. The Trojans finished with a 22-1 overall record.
West Central 15, Elk Point-Jefferson 0
The Trojans put 13 runs on the board in the bottom of the first and then had two runs in the bottom of the third to end the game on the 15-run rule. West Central had a total of 14 hits in the game.
Izzi Parsons had three hits and an RBI. Ayla Kramer finished with two triples and six RBIs. Hanna Raethz had two doubles and an RBI. Jocelyn Nilson added two singles and an RBI. Addy Kunzweiler had two hits, one a triple. Emillee Stofferahn had a triple and an RBI. Caitlyn Hoff had a double and an RBI. Elisabeth Miller finished with a single and two RBIs. Stofferahn pitched three innings without allowing a hit with six strikeouts.
West Central 11, Madison 5
The Trojans scored seven straight runs to erase a 4-2 deficit to help them to an 11-5 win in the semifinals over the Bulldogs. Madison scored three times in the top of the first inning, but West Central responded with two in the bottom of the inning. After a scoreless second inning, Madison scored a run in the top of the third for the 4-2 lead. The Trojans then scored three in the bottom of the third and four in the bottom of the fourth for a 9-4 lead. The Bulldogs had a run in the fifth, and the Trojans scored two more in the bottom of the fifth.
Nilson had three hits, including a triple and double, with four RBIs. Raethz finished with three hits, one a double, and an RBI. Kramer had two hits, one a double, with three RBIs. Hoff had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Miller also had a single and an RBI. Hoff pitched seven innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts.
Tea Area 9, West Central 5
The Titans scored the final nine runs of the game to take the championship game 9-5 over West Central. The Trojans got three runs in the bottom of the second and then added two more in the bottom of the fourth for a 5-0 lead. Tea Area scored two runs in the top of the fifth and one in the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3. With two outs in the top of the seventh, the Titan offense rallied after an error to score six runs to go ahead 9-5.
Hoff had two hits, one a double, with an RBI. Parsons, Raethz, and Kadence Lupkes all had a double and an RBI. Kramer finished with two hits. Stofferahn, Miller, and Kunzweiler all finished with a single. Hoff pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing eight runs, two earned, on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Stofferahn pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing an earned run on two hits.
