The West Central high school baseball team had a lead after the first inning, but Dell Rapids took the win 12-2 on Tuesday, May 14th.
Brodie Herr had an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning for a 1-0 lead. Dell Rapids then scored the next 12 runs in a row. They had a run in the second, run in the third, three in the fourth, five in the fifth, and two in the sixth for a 12-1 lead. Gunnar Alfson had an RBI groundout in the bottom of the sixth, but the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Herr ended with two singles and an RBI. Landen Holewa and Rayce Whiting both had one hit each. Alfson finished with an RBI. Holewa pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on four hits and six walks with two strikeouts. Keaton Vessells pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, six earned on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
