Trojan Boys Win First Game of the Season

After three tough games and losses to start the season, the West Central Trojan boys basketball team broke into the win column on Saturday, December 16th.  The Trojans played Crofton, NE in Vermillion and came home with a 59-51 victory.

The two teams were back and forth through the first three quarters.  The game was tied 15-15 at the end of the first quarter.  The Trojans held a one-point lead, 30-29, at halftime.  Crofton outscored West Central by one point in the third quarter, and the game was tied 41-41 going into the fourth quarter.  The Trojans were able to outscore Crofton 18-10 in the final quarter to earn their first win of the season.

West Central shot 50% (21-42) overall in the game, 42% (10-24) from three-point area, and 47% (7-15) from the free-throw line.  Crofton was 40% (21-52) shooting overall, just 13% (2-15) from three-point area, and 64% (7-11) from the free-throw line.

Three players finished in double figures for West Central.  Connor Mebius had 19 points, five assists, and four steals.  Crew Heier had 16 points and five rebounds.  Carter Tetzlaff added 11 points and three assists.  Will Kuhl had five points, and Jake Kuhl had four points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and four blocked shots.
