Late First Quarter Run Sends Trojan Girls to Loss

After a 7-7 tie in the first quarter, the Groton Tigers went on an 11-0 run that kept them in front the rest of the game.  The Tigers defeated the West Central Trojans 45-35 in Hartford on Friday, December 15th.

Groton led 18-7 at the end of the first quarter.  The Trojans cut into the lead by four points in the second quarter and trailed 27-20 at halftime.  The Tigers held West Central to just four points in the third quarter and led 37-24 going into the fourth quarter.  West Central got the lead to single digits late in the game, but Groton made enough free throws down the stretch for the win.

Jazelle Jarding finished with nine points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Alexa Borns added seven points, five rebounds, and two assists.  Kacey Jaton had six points and six rebounds.  Mara Schultz had four points, two rebounds, and two assists, and Molly Anderson also had four points.
