West Central Drops Home Match to Mt Vernon/Plankinton

The West Central Trojan volleyball team hosted the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Thursday, October 11th.  The Titans won a close battle, but in straight sets, by scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-20.

Mt Vernon/Plankinton started the first set on a 5-1 run.  West Central responded with a 5-0 run to take a 6-5 lead.  The teams traded points through the middle portion of the set.  The score was tied 11-11 and 16-16.  The Titans went ahead 21-18, but the Trojans rallied to tie the score 21-21.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton, however, ended the set on a 4-0 run for a 25-21 win.

The second set started with a 4-4 tie.  The Titans then went ahead 10-6, but West Central tied the score 12-12.  The score remained tied, 15-15, and then the Titans went on a run.  They scored eight straight for a 23-15 lead on their way to the 25-17 win.

West Central had a run early in the third set.  After trailing 3-2, the Trojans went on a 5-0 run for a 7-3 lead.  The Titans responded with an 8-1 run to go ahead 11-8.  West Central tied the score 12-12.  After the Titans had an 18-15 lead, West Central again tied the score 18-18.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton ended the match on a 7-2 run for the 25-20 win.

Addison Meadors hadd seven kills and two ace serves.  Izzy McKinney finished with five kills and a block.  Marissa Dobbs had seven set assists, 16 digs, two ace serves, and a block.  Jocelyn Nilson had 18 digs, and Ellie Lienhard added five set assists.
