Trojans Suffer Tough Loss at Home to Cougars

The West Central Trojans hosted the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars on Thursday, October 5th.  The Fighting Cougars won a tough battle in five sets by scores of 24-26, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, and 15-12.

A 7-0 early put the Trojans ahead 9-4.  The Cougars chipped away at the lead and tied the score 12-12.  After a 14-14 tie, McCook Central/Montrose went on a 7-1 run for a 21-15 lead.  West Central pulled within three, 24-21, and then scored the next five points to get a 26-24 come-from-behind win.  The Trojans started the second set on a 7-4 run and pushed the lead to 12-7.  McCook Central/Montrose made the comeback in the second set and went on an 11-3 run for an 18-15 lead.  They continued to lead to the 25-22 victory.

The third set went back and forth through the early and middle stages.  The score was tied 4-4, 10-10, and 15-15.  West Central was able to get an advantage and led 20-19 and 22-21.  The Trojans finished the third set with a 25-23 win.  After a 4-4 tie start the fourth set, the Fighting Cougars slowly pulled away.  They took a 12-9 lead and built it to a 25-18 win.  McCook Central/Montrose would then win the fifth and final set by a score of 15-12.

Addison Meadors had 11 kills.  Marrisa Dobbs finished with 10 kills, three ace serves, three blocks, and 11 set assists.  Ella Harden added 10 kills as well.  Jocelyn Nilson had 65 digs on teh night.  Avery Nothdurft added 22 digs, and Ellie Lienhard had 24 set assists.
