Trojans Begin Year Two of Boys Soccer Program

The 2023 season will be just the second year of boys soccer at West Central.  Last year the team finished 2-7 with both wins coming against Dakota Valley.

“We are excited to start year two.  As a coach, it was great to see the players get together on their own over the summer for pick-up games and team bonding.  Having a year under our belt and the additional dedication shown by the boys has us light years beyond where we were at the beginning of last year,” said head coach Matthew Evans.

This year’s team returns seniors Gabe Gebhard, Jack O’Neill, and Eliot Nielsen.  There are also some changes to Class A soccer this season.  The South Dakota High School Activities Association added playoff spot.  This year’s schedule for the Trojans also includes more teams that they should be able to compete with according to Evans.

“The boys have set a season ending goal of making the playoffs, and if they continue to put in the hard work that they have shown early in practices, I believe that they’ll reach their goal of playing in October,” added Evans.
