West Central Baseball Gets Walk-off Win over McCook Central

The West Central high school club baseball team got a walk-off, 1-0 win in the bottom of the seventh inning over the McCook Central/Montrose Burros on Monday, May 8th.  This was the third straight win for West Central.

Neither team put together much of a threat until the bottom of the fourth inning.  West Central had the bases loaded with one out, but the Burros got a double play to end the inning.  McCook Central/Montrose had two runners on in the top of the fifth, but had a runner thrown out at home for the final out of the inning.

Brody Jacobson put West Central into great position to win the game with a lead-off triple to start the bottom of the seventh inning.  Jesse Jost and Deuce Sherard walked to load the bases with one out.  Caden Alfson delivered the game-winning single to left field to score Jacobson.

Jacobson finished with a triple.  Alfson had a single and an RBI.  Keaton Vessells and Jost each had a hit as well in the game.  Andrew Zimmer pitched four innings and allowed three hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Brodie Herr pitched three innings allowing just one hit while striking out six batters.
