The West Central Trojan softball team won four games and took home the team title in the Beresford Tournament on Saturday, May 6th. The Trojans won all three of their pool play games and then defeated Dakota Valley for the championship.
West Central 17, Winner 0
The Trojans held Winner to just one hit in their shutout win. West Central scored 10 times in the bottom of the first and then seven more in the bottom of the second before the game ended on the 15-run rule.
Izzi Parsons had three singles and an RBI. Jocelyn Nilson had a home run and double with four RBIs. Caitlyn Hoff had two hits, one a home run, and three RBIs. Elisabeth Miller had two doubles and three RBIs. Kadence Lupkes had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Kaylee Olson finished with two singles and an RBI. Hanna Raethz added a double and two RBIs. Emillee Stofferahn had two hits, and Ayla Kramer had a hit. Stofferahn pitched three innings allowing one hit with nine strikeouts.
West Central 18, Tri-Valley 2
The Trojans scored in every inning in their win over the Mustangs. West Central scored two in the bottom of the first, eight in the second, two more in the third, and six in the bottom of the fourth. Tri-Valley got both of their runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Raetzh had three doubles and a triple with two RBIs. Stofferahn had a home run, double, and single with three RBIs. Nilson added a home run and double with four RBIs. Hoff had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Addy Kunzweiler had two doubles and two RBIs. E. Miller had a home run and an RBI. Olson had a single and dRBI. Sophie Rolfson had two hits, one a double, and Miley Travis had a hit. Miller pitched four innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, on a hit and a walk with 10 strikeouts.
West Central 15, Beresford 1
Another quick start helped West Central cruise to their third win in pool play against Beresford. The Trojans got one run in the top of the first, but then had a 10-run second inning for an 11-0 lead. The Watchdogs got one run in the bottom of the second. West Central added two runs in the third and two more in the fifth.
Lupkes hit for the cycle having a home run, triple, double and single, with four RBIs. Nilson had four singles and two RBIs. Stofferahn had a home run, triple, and single with one RBI. Parsons had three hits, one a double, with two RBIs. Hoff had two home runs and four RBIs. Kramer had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Miller had two hits. Raethz and K Olson both had one hit each. Olson pitched five innings allowing one run, which was unearned, on three hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts.
Championship: West Central 12, Dakota Valley 1
The Trojans scored 12 unanswered runs to claim the championship over the Dakota Valley Panthers. West Central scored three runs in the top of the first, six in the third, and three in the top of the fourth. Dakota Valley got their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Hoff had three hits, including a home run and double, with an RBI. Parsons had three hits and an RBI. Stofferahn had a home run and double with two RBIs. Kramer added a home run and single with two RBIs. Nilson had a triple and double with one RBI. Lupkes finished with a double and single. Miller also had a double. Raetzh and Olson each had an RBI. Hoff pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on six hits with 13 strikeouts.
