Sioux Falls Christian Ends Season for West Central Boys

The Sioux Falls Christian Chargers used two big runs in the game to defeat the West Central Trojans 71-46 in the Region 3A tournament on Friday, March 3rd.  The Trojans had their season come to an end with an overall record of 11-11.

The Trojans fell behind 16-10 by the end of the first quarter.  West Central stayed within four points in the first part of the second quarter.  The Chargers led 20-16 with 4:30 to go in the half before ended the quarter on a 12-0 run.  Sioux Falls Christian led 32-16 at halftime.

West Central was able to regroup at halftime and put together a rally to start the second half.  West Central trailed 35-22 with 6:35 left in the third quarter, but got the lead down to three points, 38-35, with 2:20 to go.  The Chargers ended the third quarter leading 45-36.  Sioux Falls Christian led 47-39 with 7:00 left to play and finished the game on a 24-7 run.

The Trojans shot 40% (19-48) from the field, 33% (5-15) from three-point area, and 3-5 from the free-throw line.  The Chargers shot 51% (26-51) overall, 41% (9-22) on three-point shots, and 67% (10-15) from the free-throw line.

Erik Seten had 19 points and two rebounds.  Dylan Stromer finished with nine points and five rebounds.  Carter Schmeichel also had nine points with two rebounds and four assists.  Brodie Herr had five points and seven rebounds.  Owen Heath ended with four points, three rebounds, and three assists.
