Another Second Half Rally Extends Winning Streak for West Central Girls

The West Central Trojans (12-7) girls are on a roll as of late.  The Trojans won their eight straight game on Tuesday, February 14th, after defeated the Canton C-Hawks 55-43 with a big second half rally.

Canton’s defense caused quite a few problems for the Trojan offense in the first half.  The C-Hawks led 7-5 after the first quarter.  They then went on a 15-2 run to lead 22-7 with 2:00 to play in the second quarter.  West Central finished the half on a 9-0 run to close the gap to 22-16 by halftime.  That run sparked momentum for the Trojans.  West Central outscored Canton 15-8 in the third quarter for a 31-30 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Trojan offense found their stride in the fourth quarter, scoring 22 points, while the defense held Canton to 13.

Molli Thornton had 20 points and two rebounds in the game.  Tesse VanOverbeke added 12 points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Jazelle Jarding had eight points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Alexa Borns also had eight points with three rebounds. Cambell Fischer ended with four points, but 11 rebounds and three assists.
