West Central and Tri-Valley Do Battle on the Volleyball Court

Region 3A and Dak-12 foes met on the volleyball court on Monday, October 24th.  The Tri-Valley Mustangs hosted the West Central Trojans.  This was the final regular season match for the Mustangs and the final road match of the regular season for the Trojans.

Tri-Valley got out to a quick 10-4 lead in the opening set.  The Mustangs were able to push the lead to 20-8 before taking the first set 25-13.  The Trojans took the lead early in the second set 5-3.  After a 7-7 tie, Tri-Valley was able to go on a 10-3 run for a 17-10 lead.  The Mustangs were able to win the second set 25-19.

Tri-Valley looked to be in control early in the third set as they lead 10-6.  West Central went on a 6-2 run to tie the score 12-12.  After a few back-and-forth points, the Trojans turned a 15-15 tie into a 19-15 lead.  West Central was able to maintain the lead and win the third set 25-22.  The two teams traded points through the first half of the fourth set and were tied 13-13.  The Mustangs went on a 7-0 run for a 20-13 lead.  Tri-Valley was at match point at 24-20, but the Trojans scored the final six points to steal the fourth set 26-24 and send the match to a fifth and final set.

The score was tied 4-4 early in the fifth set.  West Central went on a 6-1 run for a 10-5 advantage.  They carried that momentum the rest of the set and won 15-6 for the match win.

Aubree Miller had 12 kills, 18 digs, and nine set assists for the Trojans.  Stormee Klein and Madilyn Dinges both finished with five kills each.  Landry Heath had 17 digs and six ace serves.  Ellie Lienhard added 11 set assists.  Kaia Gabbert had five ace serves, and Maria Peterson had two solo blocks.

For the Mustangs, Ava Pearson had 15 kills and three blocks.  Maddie Wenzel added 13 kills, two blocks, and two ace serves.  Kenzie Atwood tallied 26 digs and an ace.  Erica Bicknase had 24 digs.
