A bid for three straight state titles for the West Central Trojan girls soccer team fell short against the Tea Area Titans on Saturday, October 15th. The Titans defeated the Trojans in a shootout for the win.
The entire match was a defense battle all game long. Neither team was able to get a goal in regulation, and the score remained 0-0 after an overtime period. With no change in the score after overtime, the match went to a shootout.
The two teams each scored four goals after five shootout kicks, so the championship need another round. The Titans goalkeeper made a diving stop on an attempt by Sadie Berg. Tea then made their shootout kick to win the 2022 Class A title.
The Trojans finished this season with a 13-1-1 overall record.
