Tri-Valley Volleyball Falls in Five Sets in Regular Season Finale

The Tri-Valley Mustangs traveled to Hartford to play the West Central Trojans in their final regular season match of the season on Monday, October 23rd.  The Trojans won the match in five sets by scores of 25-14, 21-25, 25-11, 21-25, and 15-7.

The Trojans started the first set with a 7-2 run and that kept them in front the rest of the set.  They extended their lead to 20-12 before winning 25-14.  The second set started with a 5-5 tie.  Tri-Valley went on a 7-4 run to go ahead 12-9.  They stayed in front by three-to-four points the rest of the set and took the win 25-21.

West Central started the third set with a 6-1 run. The Trojans kept cruising from there and built a 21-10 lead.  They finished the set on a 5-1 run for a 25-11 win.  The fourth set began with another 5-5 tie.  The Mustangs went ahead 10-7 and continued to lead 15-12.  West Central tied the score 17-17, but Tri-Valley responded with a 6-2 run for a 23-19 lead.  The Mustangs forced a fifth set with a 25-21 win.

The Trojans got out to a fast 5-1 start in the fifth set.  They continued to lead 7-2 before Tri-Valley went on a 5-2 run to cut the lead to 9-7.  West Central ended the set and match with a 6-0 run.

Madelyn Wenzel had 15 kills and nine digs.  Emery Pearson finished with 10 kills and two ace serves.  Hillary Hastings had nine kills, and Tori O’Toole had six kills.  Nevaeh Grann ended the match with 26 set assists, eight digs, and two ace serves.  Emily Wenzel had 11 set assists and seven digs.  Julia Mauszycki, Kenzie Atwood, and Lauren Grinde all had 15 digs each.
