Mustang Volleyball Falls to Madison in Region 3A

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team had their 2023 season come to an end in the Region 3A tournament on Tuesday, October 31st.  The Mustangs traveled to Madison, but lost to the Bulldogs in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-20.

Madison built a big lead in the first set and led 15-4.  Tri-Valley cut the lead to 17-10, but Madison stopped the Mustang rally and finished the first set with an 8-4 run for a 25-14 win.

The Bulldogs got out to a 5-2 lead to start the second set.  The Mustangs rallied to tie the score 7-7 and then take the lead 8-7.  After a 9-9 tie, Madison went on an 9-2 run for a 18-11 advantage.  Madison continued the run and scored the final seven points of the match for a 25-11 win.

The Mustangs started the third set with a 5-1 run.  Madison responded with a 9-0 run to take a 10-5 lead.  The Bulldogs led 12-8 before going on a 5-1 run to extend their lead to 17-9.  Tri-Valley scored five in a row to cut the lead to 17-14.  Tri-Valley was within two points, 19-17, but Madison pushed the lead back to five points, 22-17.  The Mustangs rallied to within two points again, 22-20, but the Bulldogs finished the match on a 3-0 run for a 25-20 win.

Maddie Wenzel and Emery Pearson both had five kills each.  Nevaeh Grann had three ace serves, and Cheyenne Hanson had one ace serve.  Kenzie Atwood and Julia Mausyzcki both had 10 digs each.  Abby Wagner finished with 13 set assists.

Tri-Valley’s season ends with an overall record of 6-19.
