The Tri-Valley Maroon 14U baseball team won five games in Brookings over three days from Friday, June 26th and Sunday, June 28th.
Tri-Valley 12, Beresford 7
Tri-Valley rallied in the middle innings for their win over Beresford on Friday. Beresford scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning for a 2-0 lead. Tri-Valley tied the game, 2-2, with a couple of runs in the top of the third. They then had a seven-run top of the fourth and scored three more in the top of the fifth for a 12-2 lead. Beresford came up with five runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Tri-Valley was able to hold the rest of the game.
A. Kraft had two hits and three RBIs. B. Williams finished with two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. N. Campbell and J. Samuelson both had two singles each. B. McMillen had a hit and two RBIs. T. Sorenson, L. Gacke, and P. Amundson all had a hit with an RBI.
Tri-Valley 23, Brookings White 0
Only two innings of scoring was needed for Tri-Valley in their big win over Brookings White. They scored 14 times in the bottom of the first inning and then had nine more in the bottom of the second while holding Brookings hitless in the three-inning game.
B. Williams had two doubles and five RBIs. P. Amundson finished with a single and a double with three RBIs. R. Thompson also had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. J. Samuelson and T. Sorenson both had two singles and two RBIs.
Tri-Valley 20, Gillette JR Raiders 5
The offense kept rolling for Tri-Valley in their second game on Saturday. They scored seven times in the bottom of the first and six in the bottom of the second for a 13-0 lead. Gillette scored five times in the top of the third, but Tri-Valley had another seven-run inning to end the game on the 15-run rule.
B. McMillen had two hits, one a home run, and four RBIs. B. Williams, N. Campbelle, and P. Amundson all had two hits and an RBI each. A. Kraft also had two singles. J. Samuelson ended with a single and three RBIs.
Tri-Valley 10, Minneota Vipers 2
A six-run third inning helped Tri-Valley to their first win on Sunday. They scored a single run in the bottom of the second for an early 1-0 lead. Minneota tied the game with a run in the top of the third, but Tri-Valley followed with six runs in the bottom of the inning for a 7-1 lead. Minneota got another run in the top of the fifth, but Tri-Valley scored three more times in the bottom of the inning.
R. Thompson had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. A. Kraft ended with two singles and two RBIs. C. Zenk had two hits with one RBI. B. Williams and P. Amundson each had a double.
Tri-Valley 5, Madison 3
Three runs late helped Tri-Valley to a 5-3 win over Madison to end the weekend. Tri-Valley scored two times in the top of the second. Madison would take the lead, 3-2, with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Tri-Valley tied the game in the top of the fifth and then had two runs in the top of the sixth for the win.
P. Amundson had a double and triple with an RBI. R. Thompson finished with a single and double with an RBI. L. Gacke had two hits and an RBI. A. Kraft added a single and an RBI. C. Zenk, B. Williams, N. Campbell, and B. McMillen all had one hit each. K. Wipf had an RBI.
