Tri-Valley Maroon 14U Heads to Region 4A Championship

The Tri-Valley Maroon 14U baseball team earned a spot in the championship game of the Region 4A Tournament as the one-loss team after splitting two games on Tuesday, July 11th.  Tri-Valley lost their semifinal game against West Central, but earned a rematch with them after a victory over Wagner.

West Central 8, Tri-Valley Maroon 2

An RBI ground out by Kobe Krome and RBI double by Treyson Richter put Tri-Valley ahead 2-0 in the top of the first inning, but West Central scored the next eight runs.  West Central took the lead in the third inning with four runs, added three more in the fourth, and another in the sixth.

Richter finished with two doubles and an RBI.  Krome had a single and an RBI.  Cooper Nielsen had a double.  Abbott Moeller, Lawson Schneiderman, and Bentley McMillon all had singles.  Moeller pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on four hits and four walks with two strikeouts.  Nielsen pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on two walks.  Krome pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed an earned run on two hits.

Tri-Valley Maroon 7, Wagner 6

Tri-Valley erased a 5-1 deficit and came-from-behind against Wagner to advance to the championship game.  Each team scored a run in the first inning.  Wagner scored two times in the top of the fourth and another two in the top of the fifth for a 5-1 lead.  Tri-Valley got two runs in the bottom of the fifth and then had a big four-run sixth to take a 7-5 lead.  Wagner got one run in the top of the seventh and had the bases loaded with one out.  But a ground ball back to the mound ended the game.

Krome had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs.  Richter finished with two hits and an RBI.  Cooper Durick had a single and an RBI.  Nielsen also had one hit in the game.  Jaxson Rise pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed five runs on two hits and eight walks with five strikeouts.  Schneiderman pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed two hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Durick pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed an unearned run on a hit and walk with one strikeout.  Sullivan Snethen pitched 1/3 of an inning.

As the team with one loss, Tri-Valley Maroon will have to beat West Central two times on Wednesday, July 12th to advance to the state tournament.
