Tri-Valley Boys Get Back into Win Column

The Tri-Valley Mustang boys basketball team got back into the win column with a 42-27 victory over the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Thursday, January 9th.  The Mustangs used a big run in the fourth quarter to get the win.

The two teams were within five points of each other throughout most of the game.  The Titans held a 6-5 lead by the end of the first quarter.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton held a 13-8 lead late in the second quarter, but the Mustangs ended the half on a 7-2 run for a 15-15 tie by halftime.

Tri-Valley went on a 5-0 run through the first half of the third quarter to take a 20-15 lead.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton scored the next four points to cut the lead to 20-19.  The Mustangs finished the quarter with three straight points for a 23-19 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Titans cut the lead down to one point, 26-25 early in the fourth quarter.  Tri-Valley then ended the game on a 16-2 run to take the win, 42-27.

The Mustangs shot 31% (14-45) overall, 38% (8-29) from three-point area, and 60% (6-10) from the free-throw line.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton finished the game shooting 22% (11-49) overall, 0-13 on three-point attempts, and 5-9 from the free-throw line.

Brady Jewett had 13 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.  Teagin Gacke added 11 points and four rebounds.  Mason Hemme finished with six points, two rebounds, and two assists.  Ty Oyen had five points and seven rebounds.  Landon Hughes ended with four points and six rebounds.
