Tri-Valley Baseball Suffers Loss to Baltic

Baltic overcame an early lead by Tri-Valley to earn a 13-8 win on Thursday, April 11th.

Baltic scored three times in the top of the first inning, but Tri-Valley took the lead in the bottom of the inning.  Tristen Bunde had a bases-loaded walk, Everett Althoff scored on a wild pitch, and Nathan Madison had a two-run single to give Tri-Valley a 4-3 lead.  Cody Lofswald scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second increasing the lead to 5-3.

After a scoreless third inning, Baltic regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning.  They scored four times to take a 7-5 lead.  Carter Sorenson had an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth pulling Tri-Valley within a run, 7-6.  Baltic added a run in the top of the sixth, but the big blow came in the top of the seventh.  Baltic scored five times for a 13-6 lead.  Sorenson and Hunter Foster hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally for Tri-Valley was stopped there.

Sorenson had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Madison had a single and two RBIs.  Foster had a double and an RBI.  Althoff and Treyson Richer both had a double.  Bunde finished with an RBI.  Alex Wingen pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed seven earned runs on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts.  Sorenson also pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed six earned runs on six hits and six walks with three strikeouts.
