The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team hosted the Parkston Trojans on Monday, September 28th. The match was close, but the Trojans took the win by scores of 25-13, 20-25, 25-21, and 25-22.
After trailing 2-0 to start, the Mustangs went on a 4-0 run to take a 4-2 lead. Parkston went back in front at 8-7 and grew the lead to four points at 14-10 and 16-12. The Trojans would finish the set on a 9-1 run for a 25-13 win.
The Mustangs started the second set on a 4-1 run. Parkston went on a 7-3 run to take an 8-7 lead. The set was tied at 11-11 before Tri-Valley went ahead 15-13. The Mustangs would maintain a lead through the end of the set for a 25-20 win.
Tri-Valley took a 4-1 lead to start the third set as well. The Trojans went on a 6-1 run to go in front 7-5. They would run the lead to three points at 14-11 and 19-16. The Mustangs tied the score 20-20, but Parkston finished with a 5-1 run to take the third set 25-21.
The Trojans used that momentum to take a 3-1 lead to start the fourth set. They extended their lead to 8-3, but the Mustangs went on a 4-0 run to pull within a point, 8-7. After Parkston extended their lead to 15-11, Tri-Valley tied the score 15-15. The score waw tied again at 18-18. Parkston grabbed a 21-19 advantage and kept that slim lead all the way to the 25-22 win.
Brooke Steineke finished with 14 kills on the night. Emry Jones finished with 10 kills.
