Parkston Takes Win over Mustang Girls

The Tri-Valley Mustangs hosted the Parkston Trojans in girls basketball action on Friday, December 8th.  The first quarter proved to be the difference as Parston earned a 58-54 win.

The Trojans started the game on a 6-0 run and built a 15-6 lead by the end of the first quarter.  They pushed the lead to 14 points, 31-17, late in the second quarter.  Tri-Valley scored the final four points of the half to cut the deficit to 31-21 at halftime.

The Trojans opened the second half on an 11-5 run for a 42-26 lead.  The Mustangs went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead down to nine, 42-33.  Parkston finished the third quarter with a 46-35 advantage.  The Trojans led 55-42 before Tri-Valley started to make a push in the fourth quarter.  The Mustangs got within four points, 58-54, but the rally ran out of time as Parkston held for the win.

Tri-Valley shot 37% (20-54) from the field overall, 25% (6-24) on three-point attempts, and 57% (8-14) from the free-throw line.  Parkston was 53% (20-38) shooting overall, 50% (6-12) on three-point attempts, and 52% (12-23) from the free-throw line.

Lauren Grinde finished with 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Mattie Huwe had 14 points, three rebounds, and four steals.  Hailey Sorenson added 11 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
