Mustang Boys Lose Tough Game to McCook Central/Montrose

For two and a half quarters, the Tri-Valley Mustangs dominated the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars.  However, all of the sudden the script flipped midway through the third quarter.  McCook Central/Montrose rallied from a 22-point deficit to steal a 68-60 win on Tuesday, February 13th.

Tri-Valley got out to a seven-point lead by the end of the first quarter, 22-15.  They continued rolling offensively in the second quarter and built a 41-25 lead by halftime.  The Mustangs had their largest lead of the night at 22 points, 52-30, with 4:30 to play in the third quarter.  That’s when McCook Central/Montrose found the momentum.  They rallied to cut the lead to 54-43 by the end of the third quarter.  The Fighting Cougars held the Mustangs to just six points in the fourth quarter as they continued to rally for the 68-60 win.

The Mustangs shot 46% (25-54) overall in the game, 35% (6-17) from three-point area, and 4-7 from the free-throw line.  McCook Central/Montrose shot 51% (24-47) overall, 45% (9-20) from three-point area, and 73% (11-15) from the free-throw line.

Brady Jewett finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds.  Trey Johnson added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Tristen Bunde had nine points.  Logan Ellison had seven points, two rebounds, and three steals.  Alex Wingen had six points and six rebounds.
