Madison Pulls Away from Mustangs in Third Quarter

For two quarters the Tri-Valley Mustangs (3-7) went step for step with the Madison Bulldogs.  Madison, however, outscored the Mustangs 17-9 in the third quarter on their way to a 65-48 win on Monday, January 30th.

The two teams ended the first quarter tied 14-14.  Madison took a four-point lead, 32-28, into the locker room at halftime.  The Bulldogs then went on a 17-5 run to lead 49-33 with 1:30 to go in the third quarter.  Tri-Valley got the final four points of the quarter to cut the lead to to 49-37.  The Mustangs got the lead under double digits, 57-48, with 3:30 to play in the game, but Madison finished the game on an 8-0 run.

Tri-Valley shot 33% (19-57) from the field overall, 21% (5-24) from the three-point area, and 5-7 from the free-throw line.  The Bulldogs were 45% (22-49) shooting from the field, 40% (12-30) on three-point attempts, and 9-12 from the free-throw line.

Noah Haynes had 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Trey Johnson finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Alex Wingen and Braden Oyen both had five points and two rebounds each.  Oyen also had three steals.
