Lennox Takes Match over Tri-Valley in Straight Sets

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team traveled to Lennox on Thursday, August 31st.  The Mustangs fell to the Orioles in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-20.

The opening set of the match was back and forth.  Tri-Valley had a lead of 4-3 and still led 12-9.  Lennox tied the score 14-14 and again 16-16.  The Orioles then went on a 6-0 run for a 22-16 lead.  The Mustangs got within two points, 22-20, but Lennox finished the set with a 25-21 win.

The Orioles started the second set with a 5-2 lead.  Tri-Valley tied the score 6-6, but Lennox responded with a 5-0 run for an 11-6 lead.  The Mustangs pulled within two points again, 12-10.  The Orioles went ahead by four, 15-11, but the Mustangs, however, rallied to tie the score 17-17.  Lennox would end the second set on an 8-0 run for a 25-17 win.

Tri-Valley had an early 5-3 lead in the third set.  Lennox tied the score 6-6 and then went ahead 12-8.  The Mustangs played within two points for a while, 13-15 and 15-17, but Lennox went on a 5-0 run for 22-15 lead.  They would finish the third set with a 25-20 win to take the match in straight sets.

Madelyn Wenzel had six kills, 11 digs, and an ace serve.  Victoria O’Toole and Emery Pearson both had four kills each.  Emily Wenzel finished with three set assists.  Lauren Grinde, Hillary Hastings, and Nevaeh Grann all had two set assists each.  Julia Mauszycki had nine digs, while Hastings finished with six.
