Late Rally Falls Short for Mustang Boys

The Tri-Valley Mustang boys basketball team made a late surge against Madison, but the rally fell just a little short.  The Madison Bulldogs held off the Mustangs for a 46-43 win in Madison on Tuesday, December 12th.

The Bulldogs built a 15-8 lead by the end of the first quarter.  They increased their lead in the second quarter, but just by a point, and had a 25-17 advantage at halftime.  Madison outscored Tri-Valley 13-6 in the third quarter for a 38-23 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs were leading 45-33 with 3:15 to play in the game before Tri-Valley started their rally.  The Mustangs scored 10 straight points over the next two minutes to pull within two, 45-43, with about a minute to go.  After a defensive stop, Tri-Valley had the ball with about :15 to play for a chance to tie the game or take the lead.  Unfortunately for the Mustangs, Madison was able to get a steal, and Tri-Valley was forced to foul in the closing seconds, which sealed the win for Madison.

Brady Jewett finished with 16 points in the game.  Alex Wingen had seven points and four rebounds.  Both Tristen Bunde and Trey Johnson had six points and four rebounds each.  Johnson also had four blocked shots and two steals.
