Canistota Wins Match over Tri-Valley

The Tri-Valley Mustangs hosted the Canistota Hawks in volleyball action on Tuesday, September 26th.  Canistota took the match in four sets by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 22-25, and 25-13.

The first set got out to an early 5-5. tie.  The Hawks went on a 4-0 run for a 9-5 lead and didn’t trail the rest of the set.  Canistota extended their lead to 22-15 before taking the win 25-16.  The Hawks started the second set with a 7-0 run.  The lead grew to 10 points, 18-8.  Canistota cruised to the 25-15 win from there.

Another quick start for the Hawks put them in front 6-2 in the third set.  The Mustangs rallied to tie the score 10-10, and then they took the lead 16-13.  Canistota tied the score 16-16, and the two teams were tied again 19-19.  Tri-Valley went ahead 23-21 and then extended the match with a 25-22 third set win.

The fourth set started with an early 3-3 tie.  The Hawks then went on a 7-2 run for a 10-5 advantage.  That run was enough to keep them in front the rest of the fourth set.  They extended their lead to 19-11 and then finished the match on a 6-2 run for the 25-13 win.

Madelyn Wenzel finished with 12 kills and a block.  Hillary Hastings added 10 kills with a block.  Emily Wenzel had 10 digs and six set assists.  Nevaeh Grann also had 10 digs with three set assists and two ace serves.  Cheyenne Hanson had a team-high 16 digs.  Julie Mauszycki had 10 digs, and Kenzie Atwood finished with eight digs.  Abigail Wagner had 17 set assists and five digs.  Emery Pearson finished the match with three kills and two ace serves.
