Arlington Rides First Half to Win over Mustang Girls

The Arlington Cardinals built an 18-point lead in the first half to help them to a 55-36 win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs (4-8) at the Billion Auto Sacred Hoops Girls Classic on Saturday, January 28th.

Arlington led from start to finish in the game.  They had an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.  Tri-Valley was then held to just two points in the second quarter and trailed 29-11 at halftime.  The Mustangs were able to work the lead down to 13 points, 42-29, a minute into the fourth quarter, but that was as close as they could get.

Tri-Valley shot 24% (11-45) from the field ,14% (2-14) from three-point area, and 63% (12-19) from the free-throw line.  Arlington shot 34% (20-59) overall, 26% (6-23) on three-point shots, and 75% (9-12) from the free-throw line.

Ava Pearson finished with 11 points and six rebounds.  Lauren Grinde also had 11 points with three rebounds.  Mattie Huwe had six points and three rebounds.  Steph Buchmann added three points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
