The Tri-Valley Maroon 14U baseball team hosted Colman-Egan, Volga White, and Dell Rapids on Saturday, July 11th. They came away with three wins on the day.
Tri-Valley 10, Colman-Egan 1
Tri-Valley scored five times in the bottom of the first and rolled from there to a win over Colman-Egan. They added two more runs in the bottom of the second and three in the fourth for a 10-0 lead. Colman-Egan scored their lone run in the top of the fifth inning.
P. Amundson had three hits. T. Sorenson finished with a single and double. B. Williams also had two hits. B. McMillen added a double with two RBIs. R. Thompson and K. Wipf each had a single with an RBI. C. Zenk finisehd with a hit, and L. Gacke had an RBI. Gacke pitched four innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and three walks with four strikeouts.
Tri-Valley 7, Volga White 6
A late-inning rally gave Tri-Valley a come-from-behind win over Volga White. Volga scored the first two runs of the game after getting a single run in the first and second innings. Tri-Valley took a brief lead, 3-2, with three runs in the bottom of the third. Volga went back in front, 6-3, after scoring four times in the top of the fourth. Tri-Valley ralled for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game 6-6. After Zenk stole third to start the bottom of the seventh, Williams brought him home with a sacrifice bunt to win the game.
Thompson and A. Kraft each had two hits with an RBI. Zenk and J. Samuelson both had two hits. Wipf finished with a double and an RBI. McMillen added a single and an RBI. Amundson ended with a hit, and Williams had an RBI. McMillen pitched 3 1/3 innings without allowing a hit or run on two walks and three strikeouts. Thompson tossed two innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Zenk pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on five hits and three walks.
Tri-Valley 6, Dell Rapids 5
Tri-Valley rallied in the middle innings to get another come-from-behind win to end the day. Each team scored a run in the first inning. Dell Rapids took the lead with three runs in the top of the second. They added one more in the top of the third for a 5-1 lead. Tri-Valley pulled within a run, 5-4, with three runs in the bottom of the third. They would grab the lead, 6-5, with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
McMillen had a single with two RBIs. Wipf had a hit and an RBI. T. Sorenson also had a hit.
