Mustang Girls Pull Away from Garretson in Region 3A Tournament

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls pulled away from the Garretson Blue Dragons for a 34-16 win in the opening round of the Region 3A Tournament on Tuesday, February 24th.

Both teams couldn’t get shots to fall through the hoop most of the night.  The Mustangs started the game with a 12-2 run and led 12-5 at the end of the first quarter.   The two teams combined for 11 points in the second quarter, and Tri-Valley led 20-8 at halftime.

The struggles of shots not falling continued for both teams in the third quarter.  Garretson and Tri-Valley combined for just nine total points in the quarter.  The Mustangs led 24-13 entering the fourth quarter.  Garretson would be held to just three points in the fourth quarter as the Mustangs pulled away for the win.

Tri-Valley shot just 26% (12-46) overall in the game, 0-12 on three-point attempts, and 45% (10-22) from the free-throw line.  Garretson finished the game shooting 21% (6-29) overall, 14% (2-14) from three-point area, and 2-9 from the free-throw line.

Rowyn Gacke ended with nine points and seven rebounds.  Peyton Vogt added seven points and five steals.  Kadence Davey had five points, 12 rebounds, and five steals.  Mattie Huwe finished with four points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Danika Fluth had three points and three rebounds.
