Tri-Valley Girls Stop Late Rally by Bulldogs

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team earned a victory in their first road game of the season on Tuesday, December 16th.  The Mustangs traveled to Madison and held off a Bulldog rally in the second half for a 57-47 win.

Tri-Valley started the game with a 15-6 run in the first five minutes.  Madison then went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 15-13 with 1:45 remaining in the quarter.  Tri-Valley scored the final two points of the quarter for a 17-13 lead.  After leading 21-17 early in the second quarter, the Mustangs went on a 15-0 run to take a game-high 19-point lead, 36-17, with 1:40 to go in the half.  They would lead 36-20 at halftime.

Madison would fight back in the second half.  The Bulldogs cut the lead to 39-29 with 1:50 to play in the third quarter.  They wouldn’t get any closer than 10 points in the quarter as the Mustangs led 44-34 going into the fourth.  Madison continued to chip away at the lead.  They trailed by seven points, 46-39, with 6:30 to go.  The Bulldogs would pull within five points two times, 48-43 and 50-45, but Tri-Valley finished the game on a 7-2 run for the 57-47 win.

The Mustangs shot 34.5% (20-58) overall in the game, 25% (6-24) on three-point shots, and 78.6% (11-14) from the free-throw line.  The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 37.5% (15-40) overall, 17.6% (3-17) on three-point attempts, and 60.9% (14-23) from the free-throw line.

Hailey Sorenson had 21 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists.  Rowyn Gacke added 12 points, six steals, and five assists.  Katrina Fluth had eight points, four rebounds, and two assists.  Peyton Vogt also had eight points along with three rebounds.
