Mustang Girls Basketball Suffers Loss to Parkston

Playing in their second game in as many days, the Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team hosted the Parkston Trojans on Friday, December 12th.  The Trojans held Tri-Valley to single digit scoring in two quarters to help them to a 46-29 win.

Parkston started the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back.  They held the Mustangs to just four points in the first quarter and led 10-4 going into the second quarter.  Tri-Valley was able to keep pace with the Trojans through the second quarter, but they still found themselves trailing 22-14 at halftime.

The Mustangs got within six points, 24-18, by the halfway point of the third quarter, but they would be held scoreless the rest of the quarter.  Parkston finished the quarter on a 15-0 run for a 39-18 lead going into the fourth quarter.  Tri-Valley did outscore the Trojans 11-7 in the final quarter, but the big run to end the third quarter was the key for Parkston to get the win.

Tri-Valley shot 20% (10-50) from the field overall, just 1-21 from three-point area, and 40% (8-20) from the free-throw line.  Parkston was 32.5% (13-40) from the field overall, 26.7% (4-15) from the three-point area, and 61.5% (16-26) from the free-throw line.

Rowyn Gacke had six points and 10 rebounds.  Mattie Huwe also had six points, three rebounds, and two steals.  Kadence Davey ended with four points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Hailey Sorenson also had four points with three steals.
