The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team saw their 2025 season come to an end in the opening round of the Region 3A Tournament on Tuesday, November 4th. The #5 seeded Mustangs traveled to #4 Madison, and the Bulldogs took the win in four sets by scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-22.
Tri-Valley was able to get on a run in the middle portion of the opening set. The Mustangs took an early 3-2 lead, but Madison tied the score at 5-5. The teams were tied again at 8-8. Tri-Valley then went on a 7-2 to take a 15-10 advantage. They were able to extend that lead to 19-12 and ride that momentum to a 25-19 opening set win.
Madison was able to shake off the first set and start the second set with an 8-0 run. Tri-Valley rallied for seven straight points to pull within one, 8-7. After the Bulldogs extended their lead to 13-9, the Mustangs rallied again to get within two points at 14-12. Each team went on little spurts at that point. Madison went ahead 17-12, but the Mustangs responded to cut the lead to 20-17. The Bulldogs were at set point, 24-18, but Tri-Valley scored fight straight points to get within one again, 24-23. Madison, however, stopped the rally to win the second set 25-23.
The Mustangs started the third set with an early 3-1 run. They continued to lead by scores of 5-4, 10-8, and 14-12. The Bulldogs would go on a 4-1 run to jump ahead 16-15. They continued to lead by a point, 18-17, before ending the set on a 7-0 run to take the win 25-17.
After an early 2-2 tie to start the fourth set, Tri-Valley took a 6-3 lead. The Mustangs continued to stay in front at 8-6. They would slowly build their lead to 12-7 and then to 17-10. Tri-Valley looked to have the momentum and send the match into a fifth set as they went ahead 20-13. Madison, however, put together a big rally cutting the lead to just one point, 22-21. The Bulldogs then carried that momentum to four more straight points for a 25-22 win to take the match.
Tri-Valley finished the season with an overall record of 10-15.
