Tri-Valley Girls Shake off Slow Start for Dak-12/NEC Clash Win

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls were able to shake off a slow start and get a 49-26 win over the Redfield Pheasants at the Dak-12/NEC Clash in Madison on Saturday, February 3rd.

The Mustangs only scored seven points in the opening quarter, and Redfield held the advantage 12-7 at quarter’s end.  The Tri-Valley defense would then lock down the Pheasants the rest of the game.  The defense allowed just two points in the second quarter to help the Mustangs to a 17-14 halftime lead.  The continued defensive pressure in the third quarter led to the Mustangs extended their lead to 37-20 going into the fourth quarter.

Tri-Valley finished the game shooting 40% (20-50) overall, 33% (7-21) on three-point attempts, and 60% (3-5) from the free-throw line.  Their defense came away with 14 steals in the ballgame.

Hillary Hastings had 12 points and six rebounds.  Lauren Grinde added 11 points and four rebounds.  Mattie Huwe ended with nine points.  Elizabeth Davey had five points and five rebounds.  Hastings was named the game’s MVP.
