Mustang Girls Pull Away in Third for Win over Dell Rapids

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team pulled away late in the third quarter to get a 48-33 win over the Dell Rapids Quarriers in Dell Rapids on Thursday, February 1st.

The Mustangs did built a double-digit lead in the first quarter.  They led 19-9 going into the second quarter.  Dell Rapids, however, outscored Tri-Valley 8-2 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 21-17 going into halftime.  The Quarriers were within five points, 24-19, with 4:08 to play in the third quarter.  Tri-Valley then finished the quarter on a 15-5 run to lead 39-24 going into the fourth quarter.

The Mustangs shot 33% (18-55) from the field overall, 32% (6-19) from three-point area, and 46% (6-13) from the free-throw line.  Dell Rapids finished the game shooting 34% (12-35) overall, 19% (3-16) on three-point shots, and 6-10 from the fre-throw line.

Elizabeth Davey had 13 points and three steals.  Mattie Huwe finished with 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Lauren Grinde also had 10 points with two assists and three steals.  Emery Pearson added six points, four rebounds, and two steals.
