Mustangs Season Ends in Region 3A

The Tri-Valley Mustangs girls (11-11) had their season come to an end in the Region 3A tournament on Saturday, February 25th.  The Mustangs fell to the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers 69-29 at Sioux Falls Christian High School.

The Mustangs grabbed momentum early in the game and led throughout most of the entire first quarter.  They held a 9-7 advantage going into the second quarter.  The Chargers, however, used a 33-7 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take control of the game.  Sioux Falls Christian led 40-16 at halftime and 54-23 after the the third quarter.

Tri-Valley shot just 19% (8-42) overall in the game, 25% (5-20) from three-point area, and 62% (8-13) from the free-throw line.  The Chargers shot 40% (22-55) overall, 39% (10-26) on three-point attempts, and 63% (15-24) from the free-throw line.  The Chargers forced 22 turnovers and scored 24 points off those turnovers.

Lauren Grinde had eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Ava Pearson finished with seven points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.  Mattie Huwe also had seven points.  Hailey Sorenson had five points, two rebounds, and two assists.
