Trojans Finish 6th at Brookings Wrestling Tourney

The West Central Trojan wrestling team finished sixth at the Les Tlustos-Brookings Invitational on Saturday, January 30th.

The Trojans finished with 117.5 points.  Harrisburg finished first with  225.5 points.  Pierre had 210.5 points and finished second.   Madison was third with 142.0 points.

Justin Zirpel won the 160-pound weight class.  Chandler Carda and Robby Edberg both had third place finishes.  Jesse Jost had a fourth place finish.  Jude Jarding, Keaton Vessells, Chet Carda, and Gabe  Gebhard all had fifth place finishes.  Wyatt Nielsen had a sixth place finish.  Levi Anderson, Rayce Whiting, and Gavin Pischke all finished seventh.

The Trojans defeated Dell Rapids in a close match, 42-39.  Madison then defeated West Central in another close dual, 38-34

Chandler Carda, Chet Carda, and Justin Zirpel all had two wins on the night.

West Central is 10-8 in duals and will be in Brookings on Saturday, January 30th for their next tournament.

Trojans Host Dak-12 Wrestling Tourney, Finish 6th

The West Central Trojan wrestling team played host for the Dak-12 Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, January 23rd.

The Trojans finished sixth as a team with 86.0 points.  Canton won the team title with 265.5 points.  Tea Area was second with 156.0 points, and Dell Rapids was third with 149.0 points.

Chandler Carda, Robby Edberg, Justin Zirpel, and Allison Foote all had  second place finishes.  Connor Siemonsma and Gabe Gebhardt both had a fourth place finish.

West Central will travel to Dell Rapids on Tuesday, January 26th for dauls against Dell Rapids and Madison.

The West Central Trojans wrestling team hosted a triangular on Tuesday, January 19th.  The Trojans split their two dual matches on the night.

West Central defeated Tri-Valley 46-30, but fell to the Vermillion Tanagers 39-33.

Justin Zirpel, Robby Edberg, and Connor Siemonsma all won both of their matches on the night.

Trojan Wrestling Takes Two at Dakota Valley

The West Central Trojan wrestling team won both of their duals at Dakota Valley High School on Tuesday, January 12th.  The Trojans had matches against Dakota Valley and Elk Point-Jefferson.

West Central defeated Dakota Valley 66-12 and then had a two-point win over Elk Point-Jefferson 36-34.

Chandler Carda, Jude Jarding, Connor Siemonsma, Jesse Jost, Robby Edberg, and Gabe Gebhardt all had two wins on the night.

The Trojans are 8-6 in dual matches this year.  They will host a triangular on Tuesday, January 19th.

West Central Finishes 5th at Home Wrestling Tournament

The West Central Trojan wrestling team hosted a tournament on Saturday, January 9th.  The Trojans placed fifth as a team with a total of 85.0 points.  Pierre won the tournament with 216.0 points.  Watertown was second with 179.0 points, and Rapid City Central was third with 112.5 points.

Chandler Carda won the 106-pound weight class.  Keaton Vessels, Robby Edberg, and Justin Zirple all finished third.  Jude Jarding had a fourth place finish.  Allison Foote had a second place finish in the girls division.

Wrestling Team Drops Two in Tea, Wins One

The wrestling team dropped two duals, but earned one victory in Tea on Saturday, December 12th.  West Central had team duals against Tea, Canton, and Lennox during the day.

The Titans defeated the Trojans 59-24, and then the C-Hawks also beat the Trojans 61-15.  West Central defeated Lennox 54-20.

West Central is now 4-4 in team duals on the season.  The Trojans will host Tri-Valley on Tuesday, December 15th.
