Tri-Vally 16U Falls to Baltic

Baltic turned a 6-5 deficit into a 17-6 win by scoring 12 times in the final three innings on Monday, June 13th.

Hunter Foster got Tri-Valley on the board right away in the top of the first with an RBI single.  Baltic took the lead in the bottom of the inning with three runs.  Tri-Valley took the lead back in the top of the second.  Carter Sorenson had an RBI single, Everett Althoff had an RBI ground out, and Foster was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  Baltic scored two more times in the bottom of the second.  After two innings of play, Tri-Valley led 6-5.

The scored remained 6-5 through three innings of play.  That’s when the Baltic offense took control of the game.  They scored four times in the fourth, six more in the fifth, and then two times in the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Foster had a hit and two RBIs.  Sorenson had a single and RBI.  Cyrus Kirstein, Levi Kretzschmar, and Ledger Burggraff each had singles in the game.  Althoff had an RBI as well.  Althoff pitched four innings allowing nine runs, six earned, on 10 hits and three walks with two strikeouts.  Cody Lofswold pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing eight runs, five earned, on six hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Madison Uses Big Inning for Win over Tri-Valley 16U

The Tri-Valley 16U baseball team trailed by just two runs after four innings of play, but Madison scored eight times in the bottom of the fifth for a 13-3 win on Thursday, June 9th in Madison.

Madison scored two runs in the bottom of the third to break a scoreless tie.  Tri-Valley took the lead in the top of the fourth with three runs.  Alex Wingen scored the first run on an error by the catcher.  Benjamin Myhre drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game, and Mayson Rise had an RBI single to give Tri-Valley a 3-2 lead.  Madison got the lead back in the bottom of the fourth with three runs.  Then they scored the eight runs in the fifth inning to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Rise had two hits and an RBI.  Myhre had a hit and an RBI.  Hunter Foster finished with two hits, and Carter Sorenson had a hit.  Sorenson pitched three innings allowing four earned runs on three hits and six walks with seven strikeouts.  Rise gave up five earned runs on three hits and three walks.  Cyrus Kirstein pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing four earned runs on a hit and two walks with three strikeouts.  Levi Kretzschmar pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing a hit and two walks.

Defending State Champs End Tri-Valley 16U Season

The defending 16U Class A state champions, Beresford, held off a late rally by Tri-Valley for a 10-9 win in an elimination game at the Region 1A tournament in Humboldt on Tuesday, July 27th.  The loss suffered by Tri-Valley ended their 2021 season.

Beresford scored four times right away in the top of the first inning, but Tri-Valley had a big first inning as well.  Noah Haynes had an RBI single, and Lawson Louiseau had a two-run single to pull Tri-Valley within a run at 4-3.  Tri-Valley tied the game in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI ground out by Haynes. Beresford took the lead again in the top of the fourth with two runs.  Haynes reached on an error in the bottom of the fifth that also scored Cole Focken, and Tri-Valley trailed 6-5 after five innings.

Beresford took advantage of a walk, hit by pitch, and an error with two outs in the top of the seventh and scored four times to take a 10-5 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.  Tri-Valley put together a rally of their own.  Mason Hendrixson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Louiseau drove home a run with a single, Haynes scored on a wild pitch, and then Hendrixson scored on a wild pitch to pull Tri-Valley within a run, 10-9.  With two outs and the trying run on third and the winning run on second, Beresford was able to get a pop-up in the infield for the third out to end the game.

Louiseau had three hits and three RBIs.  Everett Althoff had three hits.  Focken finished with two hits.  Haynes had a hit and two RBIs, and Hendrixson had an RBI.  Beau Keith pitched an inning allowing four earned runs on two hits with four walks and a strikeout.  Haynes pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing six runs, two earned, on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts.  Aidan Heitkamp pitched 1/3 of an inning.

Tri-Valley 16U Can’t Stop Dakota Valley

The Tri-Valley 16U team ran into a tough Dakota Valley team in the opening round of the Region 1A baseball tournament in Humboldt on Monday, July 26th.  Dakota Valley took the win 8-1.

Dakota Valley got a run in the top of the second and another in the top of the third for a 2-0 lead.  Everett Althoff reached on an error that scored Tanner Van Asselt to cut the lead in half at 2-1.  That’s as close as Tri-Valley would get however.  Dakota Valley got a run in the top of the fifth, three more in the top of the sixth, and two in the seventh for the win.

Tri-Valley was held to just three hits in the game.  Noah Haynes, Mason Hendrixson, and Holden Rise all had singles.  Kaden Egger pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts.  Beau Keith pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs, one earned, on a hit with two walks and a strikeout.  Aidan Heitkamp pitched one inning and allowed two earned runs on three hits.

Tri-Valley 16U Can’t Catch up to Garretson

Tri-Valley 16U couldn’t get out of an early deficit and lost to Garretson 10-5 on Thursday, July 22nd in Garretson.

Garretson scored four times right away in the bottom of the first inning.  Tri-Valley got a run back in the top of the second when Lawson Loiseau scored on a wild pitch.  Garretson, however, scored two more in the bottom of the second for a 6-1 lead.  Noah Haynes had an RBI ground out in the top of the third, but again Garretson responded with three more runs in the bottom of the third to push the lead to 9-2.

Duncan Snethen had an RBI single for Tri-Valley in the top of the fourth inning.  Garretson’s final run also game in the fourth inning to make the score 10-3.  Cole Focken scored on an error in the top of the fifth inning, and Haynes had an RBI single in the top of the seventh for the final Tri-Valley run.

Everett Althoff had three hits.  Haynes had two hits and two RBIs.  Kaden Egger had two hits.  Snethen had a hit and an RBI.  Beau Keith and Loiseau both had a triple in the game.  Focken added a single.  Althoff pitched two innings allowing six runs, three earned, on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.  Aidan Heitkamp pitched an inning allowing three runs, all unearned, on two hits with three walks and a strikeout.  Mason Hendrixson pitched three innings allowing an unearned run with two walks and a strikeout.

Tri-Valley 16U Comes from Behind to Beat West Central 16U

Tri-Valley 16U came from three runs behind to beat West Central 16U 7-5 in Colton on Monday, July 19th.

West Central’s Andrew Zimmer had an RBI ground out to shortstop in the top of the first inning.  Gage Nelson had an RBI double followed by an RBI double by Duece Sherard to give West Central a 3-0 lead after two innings.

Tri-Valley picked up two runs in the bottom of the third inning.  Kaden Egger had an RBI single, and then Everett Althoff had an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2.  West Central extended the lead back to three runs with two more in the top of the fourth inning.  Sherard had an RBI single, and D Mulder drove home a run on a single for a 5-2 advantage.

Tri-Valley then had a four-run bottom of the fourth.  Tanner Van Asselt had an RBI single.  Lawson Loiseau also had an RBI ground out.  Ledger Burggraff brought home the tying run on an RBI double, and Holden Rise scored on a passed ball to give Tri-Valley a 6-5 lead.  Tri-Valley added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Loiseau scored on a passed ball.

Sherard had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs for West Central.  Mulder and Nelson both had two hits each, one a double, and an RBI.  Camden McDonald had a double, and Owen Heath had a single.  Zimmer pitched four innings allowing six runs, four earned, on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts.  Heath pitched two innings allowing an unearned run on four hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Althoff and Loiseau both had two hits each and an RBI.  Noah Haynes also had two hits.  Burggraff had a double and an RBI.  Egger and Van Asselt both had a single and an RBI.  Beau Keith had a double, and Mason Hendrixson had a single.  Egger pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing five earned runs on nine hits with one walk and six strikeouts.  Keith pitched 1 1/3 innings walking two batters and striking out one.

Tri-Valley 16U Holds onto Win over Madison

Tri-Valley held a 10-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning over Madison on Thursday, July 15th.  Tri-Valley ended the game with just a slim one-run victory at 10-9.

Tri-Valley scored two runs right away in the top of the first.  Beau Keith scored on an error and Lawson Loiseau drew a bases-loaded walk for an early 2-0 lead.  After Madison got one run in the bottom of the first inning, Tri-Valley added two more in the top of the second.  Both Kaden Egger and Keith scored on an error in the inning.  Two more runs scored in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Mason Hendrixson.  Madison scored two times in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 6-3.

Tri-Valley then had a four-run sixth inning.  Egger scored on an error, Cole Foken had an RBI triple, Hendrixson had an RBI single, and then Hendrixson scored on an error to push the lead to 10-3.  Madison put together a big rally in the bottom of the seventh.  The first six batters reached based before an out was recorded, and all six scored to cut the lead to 10-9.  Tri-Valley was then able to get three of the next four batters out to stop the rally and win the game.

Hendrixson had two hits and three RBIs.  Loiseau had two hits and an RBI.  Keith had two hits, including a double.  Everett Althoff also had two hits.  Focken had a triple and an RBI.  Egger, Jydin Dahl, Noah Haynes, and Ledger Burggraff all had a single in the game. 

Haynes pitched six innings allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.  Hendrixson allowed six earned runs on four hits with two walks.  Egger got the final three outs allowing just one hit while striking out one.

Tri-Valley 16U Has Late Rally for Win over Flandreau

Tri-Valley 16U scored three times in the fourth for an 8-5 win over Flandreau at home on Monday, July 12th.

Flandreau scored the first two runs of the game.  They got a run in the top of the first and one in the top of the second for a 2-0 lead.  Tri-Valley then scored five times in the bottom of the second inning.  Holden Rise drew a bases-loaded walk, and Lawson Loiseau scored on an error to tie the game.  Beau Keith had a two-run single, and Kaden Egger stole home for a 5-2 lead after two innings.

Flandreau got two runs back in the top of the third inning and then tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth.  Tri-Valley, however, scored three times with two outs which proved to be the game-winning runs.  Cole Focken had a two-run single, and Mason Hendrixson had an RBI single for the 8-5 advantage.

Focken had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Keith had a hit and two RBIs.  Hendrixson had a hit and an RBI.  Everett Althoff and Duncan Snethen both had singles.  Egger and Rise each had an RBI.  Keith pitched four innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits with five walks and five strikeouts.  Egger pitched three innings allowing two hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Tri-Valley 16U Wins Slugfest over Flandreau

Tri-Valley and Flandreau put on an offensive show in Flandreau on Thursday, July 8th.  The two teams combined for 27 runs and 36 hits in the seven-inning game.  Tri-Valley’s late runs secured a 14-13 victory.

Tri-Valley scored three runs in the top of the first inning only to see Flandreau score two in the bottom of the first.  Tri-Valley then scored one run in the second, and Flandreau scored two more times.  The game was tied 4-4 after two innings.

Flandreau took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with three runs for a 7-4 lead.  Tri-Valley, however, scored six times in the fifth inning to regain the lead 10-7.  Flandreau cut the lead to one with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Tri-Valley scored four times in the top of the seventh to lead 14-9, and all four runs were needed.  Flandreau scored four times in the bottom of the seventh and has the tying run on third base when the third out was recorded.

Cole Focken had four hits, including a double, with three RBIs.  Mason Hendrixson and Lawson Loiseau both had three hits and an RBI each.  Aidan Heitkamp had two hits, one double, and an RBI.  Brendan Newman had two hits and an RBI.  Everett Althoff also had two hits.  Noah Haynes had a double and two RBIs.  Derek Van Asselt had a hit and two RBIs.  Kaden Egger, Tanner Van Asselt, and Troy Nebelsick all had a hit in the game as well.

Althoff pitched three innings allowing six runs, four earned, on five hits and five walks and a strikeout.  Hendrixson pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three earned runs on seven hit with two walks and three strikeouts.  Haynes pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing four runs, two earned on three hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Tri-Valley 16U Falls to Madison Black

Despite having an early 1-0 lead, Tri-Valley couldn’t slow down Madison Black as Madison defeated Tri-Valley 9-2 on Monday, July 5th.

Mason Hendrixson got Tri-Valley on the board first in the bottom of the first inning on a single to left field scoring Kaden Egger.  Madison, however, responded with five runs in the top of the second and three more in the top of the third to take an 8-1 lead.  Tri-Valley got another run in the bottom of the third.  Cole Focken had a line drive single scoring Egger.  Madison scored one more run in the top of the fifth for the 9-2 win.

Hendrixson and Focken both had a single and an RBI.  Everett Althoff had a double in the game.  Beau Keith and Tanner Van Asselt both had a hit as well.

Egger pitched four innings allowing nine earned runs on 13 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.  Aidan Heitkamp pitched one inning giving up one hit and striking out two batters.
