The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal Cross Country teams participated in the Dakota Valley Conference cross country meet held at the Kingsbury County Country Club in DeSmet on Wednesday, October 8th.  The Cardinal girls team finished third with 27 points.  Deubrook Area won the conference meet with 12 points, followed by DeSmet with 21 points.  Estelline finished fourth and Lake Preston was fifth.  The St Mary boys team finished fifth with a team score of 45.  Elkton-Lake Benton won the boys conference meet with 20 points.  DeSmet was second with 21 points, followed by Deubrook Area with 23 points, and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland with 24 points.

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal cross country teams participated in the Colman/Egan event on Wednesday, October 1st.  Mt. Vernon/Plakinton won the girls event with a team score of 7.  Deubrook finished second with 27 points, and Dell Rapids St Mary was third with a score of 34.  Mt. Vernon/Plankinton also won the boys event with a team score of 26.  McCrossan finished second with a team score of 38, and Baltic was third with 38.  The Cardinals finished fifth with a score of 44.

The Dell Rapids St Mary boys and girls cross country teams participated in the Region 2A meet in Howard on Wednesday, October 16th.  All of the varsity runners qualified for the State meet to be held in Rapid City on October 26th.  Both the boys and girls teams finished 2nd in the Regions out of 17 teams.  The girls team finished with 21 points.  Hanson won the girls event with 18 points.  The boys finished with 15 points.  Elkton-Lake Benton won the boys event with nine points.

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys and girls cross country teams participated in the Flyer Invitational at Freeman’s Valley View Golf Course on Wednesday, September 18th.  Gayville-Volin won the girls event with a team score of 15.  Bon Homme finished second with 22 points, Hanson third with 30 points, Viborg-Hurley was fourth with 40 points, and Dell Rapids St Mary finished fifth with 48 points.  The Cardinal boys team won the boys event with a team score of 16.  Parker finished second with 17 points, McCrossan was third with 24 points, Freeman Academy finished fourth with 27 points, and Bon Homme was fifth with 55 points.

Mitch Roeman took first place individually with a time of 17:56, and Jared Scholten finished second with a time of 18:14 for the Cardinals.

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals boys and girls cross country team took part in the McCook Central/Montrose Invitational on Tuesday, September 3rd.  The boys team finished third in the event with 52 points.  Garretson won the boys division with 31 points, followed by West Central with 36 points.
