Four Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestlers placed at the Tri-Valley Invitational on Saturday, January 17th.  Reice Tiernan and Ben Cavigielli each placed fifth in their weight classes.  James Lueders placed fourth, while Austin Eulberg placed third.

Head Coach Craig Jorgensen said, “I was impressed with our wrestlers today. We wrestled aggressively and worked hard on the mat. We are steadily making strides as the year goes along.”

The Dell Rapids Quarrier Wrestling team finished 0-2 at a Dak-12 triangular on Tuesday, January 13th, hosted by the Quarriers.  The Quarriers fell to Madison 68-12.  Dell Rapids also lost to Vermillion 54-15.  Austin Eulberg, Sutton Adams, and Ben Cavigielle all picked up wins on the night.  Cavigielli finished 2-0 in the triangular.

Head coach Craig Jorgensen said, “We lost a couple close matches in the dual.  We see us improving as the year progresses.”

The Quarriers will participate in a Tri-Valley tournament on Saturday, January 17th.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team earned one match win and were defeated in a match in Madison in the first Dak-12 meet of the year on Tuesday, December 16th.  Lennox defeated Dell Rapids 54.00 to 30.00.  Dell Rapids beat Tea Area 55.00-18.00.  Other scores from the Dak-12 meet in Madison included Madison over Tea Area 77.00 – 6.00 and Madison over Lennox 49.00 – 29.00.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team participated in the Region 1A meet on Saturday, February 22nd, in Watertown.  The Quarriers finished sixth as a team with 71.5 points.   Sioux Falls Roosevelt finished first with 196 team points, Brookings was second with 178 points, Watertown finished third with 158 points, West Central fourth with 130 points, and Madison fifth with 118.5 points.

Individually for Dell Rapids, five wrestlers qualified for the state meet.  Leon Maxwell placed first in the 220-pound weight class.  Jacob Habeger finished third in the 285-pound weight class.  Brock Reinhiller had a fourth place finish in regions in the 170-pound weight class.  Austin Eulberg also placed fourth in the 160-pound weight class, and Scott Warwick finished fourth in the 113-pound weight class.

All five wrestlers will participate in the 55th Annual South Dakota State A Tournament on Friday, February 28th, and Saturday, March 1st, in Rapid City.  The tournament will be webcast live on South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s website, sports.sdpb.org.

The Dell Rapids Quarriers hosted a wrestling triangular on Thursday, February 6th, with the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars and Adrian Dragons coming to Dell Rapids for the event.  In the opening match, Adrian defeated Dell Rapids 58-18.  In the night’s second match, Adrian picked up a 61-18 win over McCook Central/Montrose.  To end the night, McCook Central/Montrose defeated Dell Rapids 42-33.  In the final match, James Lueders picked up a 3-1 decision win for Dell Rapids.  Sutton Adams, Jacob Huewe, Austin Eulberg, and Leon Maxwell all picked up pins in the match.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier wrestling team hosted the “Top of the Rock” wrestling tournament on Saturday, December 7th.  Seven teams participated in the event including Dell Rapids, Beresford, Tri-Valley, McCook Central/Montrose, Parker, Dakota Valley, and Alcester-Hudson.  Beresford took home team honors with 197 points.  Tri-Valley was second with 167 points.  McCook Central/Montrose finished third with 159 points, and the Quarriers finished fourth with 148 points.

Max Lamer, Scott Warwick, James Lueders, Sutton Adams, Jacob Huewe, Tyler Gee, Austin Eulberg, Brock Reinhiller, Reice Teirnan, Jacob Habeger, and Leon Maxwell all had top four finishes in their respective weight classes on the day.
