Quarrier Football Wins on Senior Night

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier football team picked up a win on senior night over the Dakota Valley Panthers 32-13 on Friday, October 16th, at Dell Rapids High School.

The Panthers scored first on a 52-yard pass from Luke Schmitt to Tyler Johnson to take an early 7-0 lead.  But from that point, the Quarriers dominated the game.  Hunter Hansen connected with Mason Peter for a 13-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7.  Jacob Faux added a score on a four-yard run to give Dell Rapids a 13-7 lead after the first quarter.

Sam White then scored the next three touchdowns for Dell Rapids.  White closed out the first half with a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Quarriers a 19-7 lead at halftime.  White then caught a 72-yard pass over the middle from Hansen for a touchdown in the third quarter to put Dell Rapids ahead 25-7.  White’s third touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a 58-yard run.  The Panthers closed out the scoring on a four-yard run by Robert Rosequist.

Dell Rapids finished the game with 85 passing yards and 213 rushing yards for a total of 298 yards of offense on 55 plays.  Dakota Valley had 280 yards of total offense on 57 plays.  Dell Rapids was 6-11 on third down and 0-1 on fourth down conversions.

Hansen finished the game 3-5 passing for 85 yards and two touchdowns.  White had two catches for 72 yards and a touchdown, while Peter had one catch for a 13-yard touchdown.  White led the ground attack with 16 carries for 158 yards and a touchdown.  Faux finished the night with 15 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Peter led the Quarrier defense with eight tackles in the game.  Tanner Heim had five tackles.  Seth Andersen also had five tackles and one sack.  Ross Wiebenga finished with four tackles and a sack.  White had three tackles and two interceptions.

Dell Rapids improves to 3-5 on the year.  The Quarriers will close out their 2015 season on the road at Lennox on Thursday, October 22nd.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Milbank Area Comes from Behind Against Quarriers

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Milbank Area Bulldogs scored three touchdowns in a row in the second and third quarters to come from behind and beat the Dell Rapids Quarriers 26-21 on Friday, October 9th, in Milbank.

The Bulldogs got on the board first on a 61-yard run by Tanner Gauer in the first quarter to lead 6-0.  Dell Rapids scored two times in the second quarter.  The first touchdown came on a 90-yard run by Hunter Hansen.  Jacob Faux scored on a four-yard run to give Dell Rapids a 14-6 lead.  Milbank Area pulled within two points on a two-yard touchdown run by Kyle Montag.  Dell Rapids held a 14-12 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the third quarter to regain the lead for good.  Nolan Foss connected with Isaac Snaza on a 16-yard touchdown pass, and Gauer scored again on a 26-yard run to put the Bulldogs ahead 26-14.  Dell Rapids got one more score on an Adam Nagelhout 13-yard run towards the end of the third quarter.

The Quarriers finished with 300 yards of total offense, 31 passing yards and 269 rushing yards.  They were 2-9 on third down and 1-2 on fourth down.  Dell Rapids also turned the ball over three times in the game.

Hansen finished 2-10 passing for 37 yards and two interceptions.  Hansen also carried the ball six times for 142 yards and a touchdown.  Faux had 12 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.  Nagelhout had four carries for 29 yards and a touchdown.  Sam White had 10 carries for 26 yards.

Dell Rapids falls to 2-5 on the year.  The Quarriers will host Dakota Valley on Friday, October 16th, in their final home game of the year.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Quarrier Football Back in Win Column

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier football team ended a 3-game losing streak with a 24-14 come-from-behind win over the Canton C-Hawks on Friday, October 2nd, in Dell Rapids.

Canton got on the board first in the first quarter on a two-yard touchdown run by Logan Ranschau to take an early 6-0 lead.  The C-Hawks added another touchdown in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Jacob Hult.  The two-point conversion was successful, and Canton held a 14-0 lead.

The Quarriers closed the gap before halftime by scoring twice.  The first touchdown came on a three-yard run by Adam Nagelhout to cut the Canton lead to 14-6.  Dell Rapids picked up another score before halftime on a 20-yard pass from Hunter Hansen to Sam White.  The two-point conversion failed, and the Quarriers trailed 14-12 at halftime.

Dell Rapids scored two more times in the third quarter to complete the come-from-behind win.  Hansen found the end zone on a two-yard run, and Jacob Faux had a 52-yard touchdown run as well.

Dell Rapids finished with 214 rushing yards and 130 passing yards for a total of 344 total yards.  The Quarriers picked up 10 first downs in the game.  They were 2-9 on third down and 0-1 on fourth down.

Hansen finished 6-15 passing for 130 yards, one touchdown and one interception.  White had all six receptions for Dell Rapids.  Hansen also led the team in rushing with 99 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.  Faux had six carries for 88 yards and a touchdown.  Tanner Heim led the defense with eight tackles.  Ryan Geraets finished with six tackles, and Anthony Miller had five tackles.

Dell Rapids improves to 2-4 on the year.  The Quarriers will travel to Milbank to face the Bulldogs on Friday, October 9th.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Second Half Surge by Trojans Send Quarriers to Loss

DellRapidsFootballLogoAfter being tied 7-7 at halftime, the West Central Trojans scored the game’s final 23 points in the second half and defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers 30-7 on Friday, September 25th, in Hartford.

West Central scored the game’s first touchdown in the first quarter when Jordan Lueth scored on a three-yard run to put the Trojans ahead 7-0.  The Quarriers answered in the second quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Hunter Hansen to Sam White to tie the game at 7-7.

West Central received a gift from the Quarriers in the third quarter when Dell Rapids hiked the ball out of the back of their own end zone on a punt for a safety.  The two points gave the Trojans the lead back at 9-7.  West Central added another score in the third quarter on a 55-yard run by Noah Vettrus to put the Trojans ahead 16-7.

The Trojans scored two more times in the fourth quarter.  The first score came on a 50-yard run by Vettrus.  The final touchdown of the game was a three-yard run by Joseph Hanisch.

The Quarriers finished with 245 yards of total offense, 110 passing yards and 135 rushing yards.  West Central finished with 352 yards of total offense, 49 passing yards and 303 rushing yards.  Dell Rapids was just 3-16 on third down conversions and 3-10 on fourth down.

Hansen finished 9-19 passing for 110 yards and one touchdown.  White had five receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.  Jeffrey Schuch had two catches for 24 yards, and Ryan Geraets had two catches for 16 yards.  White also led the ground attack with 10 carries for 51 yards.  Jacob Faux had seven carries for 48 yards.

Anthony Miller had nine tackles defensively for Dell Rapids.  Ross Wiebenga had five tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery.  Nate McKee and Geraets both had five tackles apiece.

Dell Rapids falls to 1-4 on the year.  The Quarriers will host Canton on Friday, October 2nd.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Tea Area Spoils Homecoming for Quarrier Football

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Tea Area Titans spoiled Homecoming for the Dell Rapids Quarrier football team.  The Titans earned a 14-6 win over the Quarriers on Friday, September 18th, at Dell Rapids High School.

Tea scored first in the second quarter on a five-yard touchdown run by Kendon Rensch.  Rensch scored again for the Titans in the third quarter on a one-yard run to put Tea ahead 14-0.  The Quarriers got on the board in the fourth quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Sam White, but wasn’t enough to earn the victory.

Dell Rapids was limited to just 125 total yards of offense, 83 passing yards and 42 rushing yards.  The Quarries finished 4-15 on third-down conversions.

Hunter Hansen finished 6-12 passing for 83 yards.  Jeffery Schuch had three catches for 43 yards.  White had a catch for 19 yards.  Mason Peter also had a catch for 12 yards.  White carried the ball five times for 16 yards and a touchdown.  Tanner Heim had two carries for 16 yards.  Hansen had 18 carries for 15 yards.  Ross Wiebenga anchored the defense with eight tackles.  Nate McKee and Heim each had six tackles.  Heim also had an interception.

Dell Rapids falls to 1-3 on the year.  The Quarries will travel to Hartford to play West Cental on Friday, September 25th.

Quarrier Football Falls to Tri-Valley

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier football team fell to the Tri-Valley Mustangs in a defensive battle 12-7 on Friday, September 11th, in Dell Rapids.

The Quarriers got on the board first with a 76-yard touchdown pass from Hunter Hansen to Sam White in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.  Tri-Valley answered back when Landon Freeman scored on a 33-yard run in the first quarter.  The two-point conversion was no good, and Dell Rapids led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.  The game-winning touchdown came in the second quarter for the Mustangs on a 19-yard run.

The Quarriers finished with a total of 186 yards of offense, 125 passing yards and 61 rushing yards.  Tri-Valley had 250 yards of total offense, 43 passing yards and 207 rushing yards.  Dell Rapids had just three first downs and was 1-8 on third down chances.  The Quarriers also turned the ball over three times in the game, but forced four Mustang turnovers.

Hansen finished 3-6 passing for 125 yards, one touchdown and one interception.  White had one touchdown catch for 76 yards.  Mason Peter had a catch for 41 yards, and Sutton Adams had a catch for eight yards.  White had nine carries for 28 yards.  Ryan Geraets had a 20-yard run, and Jacob Faux carried the ball seven times for 11 yards.

Defensively for Dell Rapids, Ross Wiebenga had 10 tackles, one of them for a loss.  Geraets had eight tackles.  Matt Gillogly had two fumble recoveries, Patrick Hackett had a fumble recovery, and Anthony Miller had an interception.

Dell Rapids falls to 1-2 on the year.  The Quarriers will host Tea Area on Friday, September 18th for Homecoming.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.Qua

Quarrier Football Earns First Win of Season

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier football team picked up their first win of the 2015 season with a 35-6 victory over the Vermillion Tanagers on Friday, September 4th, in Vermillion.

The Quarriers picked up a first quarter touchdown when Hunter Hansen connected with Jeffrey Schuch on a 19-yard touchdown pass to give Dell Rapids a 6-0 lead.  Hansen and Schuch connected again in the second quarter, this time from 17 yards away.  The touchdown gave the Quarriers at 12-0 lead at halftime.

Vermillion pulled within a touchdown when Matt Ouellette hauled in a 15-yard pass from Carter Kratz for the Tanagers only score of the game.  From that point forward, Dell Rapids took control of the game.

Hansen scored on a one-yard run, and with a successful two-point conversion, Dell Rapids led 28-6 at the end of the third quarter.  Hansen had his third touchdown pass of the night when he found Sam White from two yards away.  Matt Gillogly scored the final touchdown of the game on a 66-yard fumble recovery.

Hansen finished the game 5-8 passing for 85 yards and three touchdowns.  Schuch had three catches for 48 yards and two touchdowns.  Jacob Faux had one catch for 35 yards.  Hansen also lead the ground attack with 10 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown.  White had 10 carries for 73 yards.

Defensively for the Quarriers, Gillogly finished with seven tackles, one fumble recovery and one touchdown.  Tanner Heim had seven tackles, two of them for loss.  Ryan Geraets and Trevor Pulscher each had five tackles in the game.  Mason Peter also had a fumble recovery.

Dell Rapids improves to 1-1 on the year.  The Quarriers will host Tri-Valley on Friday, September 11th.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Madison Wins Over Quarrier Football

DellRapidsFootballLogoThe Madison Bulldogs earned a 41-6 win over the defending 11A champion Dell Rapids Quarriers on Friday, August 28th, in Madison.

The Bulldogs forced an early turnover as Dylan Williams intercepted Hunter Hansen during the Quarriers’ first possession of the game.  Mitch Hanson scored the first touchdown for Madison after the interception to give them an early 7-0 lead.  The Bulldogs scored again in the first quarter.  Brodie Frederiksen found the endzone this time to put Madison ahead 14-0 after the first quarter.

Already leading 20-0, Jaxon Janke intercepted a Hansen pass deep in Madison territory returning it 91 yards for another Madison touchdown.  The Bulldogs led 27-0 at halftime.  Frederiksen found the endzone again in the third quarter from 20 yards away.  Mason Leighton also had a 41-yard touchdown reception on a pass from Hanson for the Bulldogs.

Dell Rapids picked up their lone touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a two-yard run by Sam White.  Jacob Faux led the team with 113 yards on 18 carries.  Hansen ran the ball 16 times for Dell Rapids for 112 yards.

Dell Rapids falls to 0-1 on the season.  The Quarriers will travel to Vermillion on Friday, September 4th.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.

Nelson Signs with DWU

Jase Nelson, senior at Dell Rapids High School, signed a letter of intent to play football at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell.  Nelson finished his senior year of Quarrier football completing 57 of 107 passes for 1,118 total yards.  He threw 15 touchdowns and only seven interceptions.  He also ran the ball 26 times for 74 yards and a touchdown.

One of Nelson’s best games came in the semi-finals of the playoffs where he went 7-11 passing for 125 yards and two touchdowns against West Central to send the Quarriers to the Dome on their way to the 11A Championship.

Nelson will now suit up as a member of the Tiger football team.

Dak-12 2014 Football All-Conference Selections

Seven Quarrier football players earned 2014 Dak-12 All-Conference selections.  They are sophomore Seth Anderson, junior Griffin Ellison, and seniors Ben Gillogly, Ben Hammer, Tanner Ljunggren, Jase Nelson, and Riley Schmidt.  Two Quarriers received Honorable Mention – seniors Keegan Hemenway and Andrew Wiebenga.
