Shorthanded De Smet Girls Fall Short in Castlewood

Down a couple of players for the game, the De Smet Bulldog girls fell short in Castlewood on Tuesday, January 30th.  The Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 45-33.

Castlewood started the game with a 7-0 run and ended the quarter with a 14-4 lead.  The Bulldogs got the deficit down to seven points, 14-7, early in the second quarter.  The Warriors, however, ended the first half with a 25-10 lead.  The lead stayed about 15 points throughout most of the third quarter.  Castlewood got a late basket to take a 40-22 lead into the fourth quarter.

De Smet battled hard in the fourth quarter and went on an 11-2 run after a made three-point basket by Aubree Blue.  The Bulldogs trailed 42-33 with 4:00 to go in the game.  De Smet held the Warriors scoreless over the next two minutes, but couldn’t cut into the lead any more.  Castlewood scored the final three points of the game to hold for the win.

The Bulldogs shot 23% (11-48) overall, 26% (6-23) from three-point area, and 46% (5-11) from the free-throw line.  Castlewood shot 42% (18-43) in the game, 30% (6-20) from three-point area, and 33% (3-9) from the free-throw line.

Audi Currier had 11 points and seven rebounds.  Megan Dylla finished with nine points, three rebounds, and two steals.  Blue added six points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Ivey Schoenfelder also had six points with four rebounds and two assists.
