Bulldog Girls Suffer Loss in Region 2B Tournament

The De Smet Bulldog girls had their 2023-2024 season come to an end in the Region 2B Tournament at James Valley Christian High School on Tuesday, February 20th.  The Bulldogs lost their opening round game to the Deubrook Area Dolphins 52-37.

The Dolphins held just a three-point lead, 12-9, at the end of the first quarter.  The lead for Deubrook doubled to 25-19 at halftime.  De Smet was still within six points, 31-25, with 5:00 remaining in the third quarter.  Deubrook scored the final seven points and led 38-25 going into the fourth quarter.

De Smet shot 22% (13-59) overall in the game, 13% (4-31) from three-point area, and 54% (7-15) from the free-throw line.  Deubrook finished the game shooting 37% (18-49) overall, 18% (3-17) on three-point shots, and 65% (13-20) from the free-throw line.

Hazel Luethmers finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.  Aude Currier added six points, four rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Mirra Beck had three points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Aubree Blue had two points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

The Bulldogs finish the year with an overall record of 7-14.
