De Smet Girls Take Win Against Wolsey-Wessington

The De Smet Bulldog girls basketball team took a road win against the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds on Monday, December 11th.  The Bulldogs took the lead in the second quarter and held for a 50-44 victory.

The Warbirds held a 10-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The Bulldog defense held Wolsey-Wessington to two points in the second quarter to help them to a 20-12 halftime lead.  Both teams scored 17 points each in the third quarter, and De Smet continued to lead 37-29 going into the fourth quarter.  The Warbirds scored the first six points of the fourth quarter and got within two points, 37-35, with 5:00 to play.  The Bulldogs responded with a 7-0 run and extended their lead to 44-35 with 3:45 remaining.  De Smet held on the rest of the game for the win.

Hazel Luethmers had 14 points and eight rebounds.  Megan Dylla added 11 points, four steals, two rebounds, and two assists.  Alyssa Asleson finished with eight points, eight rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Aubree Blue had five points, and Ivey Schoenfelder had four points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
