Bulldog Girls Win First Home Game of Season

The De Smet Bulldog girls basketball team had their first home game of the season on Thursday, December 14th.  The Bulldogs hosted the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks and won their second straight game by a score of 44-31.

Both teams got off to a slow start in the first quarter combining for a total of nine points.  The Redhawks led 5-4 going into the second quarter.  The Bulldogs outscored Estelline/Hendricks 9-5 in the second quarter for a 13-10 halftime lead.  The De Smet offense got going in the third quarter, scoring 25 points to take a 38-21 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs shot 27% (13-48) overall in the game, 37% (7-19) from three-point area, and 55% (11-20) from the free-throw line.  The Redhawks shot 27% (10-37) as well, 22% (2-9) on three-point attempts, and 50% (9-18) from the free-throw line.  The Bulldogs also won the turnover battle 23-17.

Hazel Luethmers had 19 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.  Alyssa Asleson finished with six points and two rebounds.  Ivey Schoenfelder added five points and four rebounds.  Mirra Beck had four points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Megan Dylla also had four points with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
