Colman-Egan Holds off De Smet Girls

The Colman-Egan Hawks held off an early fourth quarter rally by the De Smet Bulldogs (6-7) for a 53-40 victory on Friday, January 27th.

The Hawks had a three-point advantage at the end of the first quarter, 17-14.  The Bulldogs kept pace and cut into the lead by one point, 26-24, by halftime.  Colman-Egan put together a run in the third quarter to build a 42-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.  De Smet rallied to cut the lead to 42-38 with 5:45 to play, but Colman-Egan held the Bulldogs to just two more points the remainder of the game.

The Bulldogs shot 30% (16-53) overall, 20% (5-25) on three-point attempts, and 3-6 from the free-throw line.  Colman-Egan finished the game shooting 33% (17-51) from the field, 32% (6-19) from three-point area, and 68% (13-19) from the free-throw line.

Hazel Luethmers finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Jada Burke added nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Alyssa Asleson and Mirra Beck both had five points and three rebounds each. Cori Birkel ended with four points and four rebounds.
